I am a freelance journalist focusing on Texas politics and public policy. I’m also the Don and Doris Shaffer editorial intern at The Nation Institute’s Investigative Fund, where I work as a researcher for groundbreaking investigative stories. I have written enterprise and daily news stories for The Texas Observer, The Indianapolis Star, part of the USA TODAY Network, the San Antonio Express-News, and The Texas Tribune. During my time at the Express-News, I covered the 85th Texas Legislature, focusing my reporting on health care and LGBT issues while also producing long-form reporting on access to medical marijuana and immigration reform.
I graduated in December 2017 from The University of Texas at Austin with a double degree in Journalism and International Relations, a minor in Latin American politics and a concentration in international security. I am mainly interested in public health, immigration, and accountability of human rights abuses through investigative reporting.
